This is the standard we are holding BOND Live to before it opens: identity, background, license, insurance, skills and child-safety training for every stylist and educator, and a parent in the room. Screening hasn’t started yet, and we’ll say so plainly until it has.
Sample profile. Simone is not a real professional and no one has been screened yet. BOND Live is not open. See her sample profile on BOND Pro.
THE SIX PROPOSED CHECKS
Our standard: every check required. If one is missing, expires or comes back with a concern, the profile isn’t shown to families. A screening partner, the legal process and the app tools behind this are still being set up.
A government photo ID matched to a live selfie, so the person you meet is the person on the profile.
A criminal records search with the professional’s written consent, including the national sex offender registry and county and federal records, to be run by an accredited, FCRA-compliant screening company we have not yet chosen. Planned to repeat every year.
Where the state requires a cosmetology or barber license, we will confirm it is active with the state board.
Proof of liability insurance for in-home and salon services, to be kept current.
A portfolio and a short live demonstration on the hair types they list, to be reviewed by an experienced stylist.
Planned BOND training on consent, comfort breaks, tender scalps and how to work with a parent in the room.
DURING EVERY SESSION
The standard for every professional, every format, every time. Some depend on app features that aren’t built yet, and each one says so.
The standard: a parent or guardian is present for every in-home visit and every video session, and a professional is never alone with a child.
Booking, messages and video are planned to happen in the BOND app, between the professional and the parent. The standard is that professionals never message a child directly.
She can ask for a break or to stop at any time, and the professional stops. No one is pressured to finish a style.
The plan: sessions are not recorded unless the parent says yes, and photos of her stay private unless you share them. Recording controls are not built yet.
Home visits are planned to start and end with a check-in in the app, so you know who arrived and when they left.
In-app reporting is planned, with a person reviewing every report and the option to pause a professional while it is looked into. Until BOND Live opens, tell us through BOND Help. In an emergency, call 911.
HOW A PROFESSIONAL JOINS
The planned path. BOND Pro applications open before BOND Live does, and no one will skip a step.
PEOPLE YOU INVITE
The Village are family and friends you choose, like Grandma Joan for Saturday’s pickup. BOND doesn’t screen them, so we show that clearly and give them only the access you pick, only for as long as you need. When BOND Live opens, only screened professionals will carry the BOND Verified badge; people you invite never will.
